Relinquishing Control for Revival

I often find myself treating my relationship with God in the same way that a child would share their toys. Like, okay God you can have control over my career, that's fine. And okay I guess I give you my friendships too, I mean you probably know best with those. Fine, alright I'll spend like 10 minutes with you in the afternoon but I have so much else on my plate. Maybe You can have another few minutes at night once everything else on my to-do list is checked off. Alright, alright I give you authority over what my eyes see and what my ears hear: I'll only watch movies/shows and listen to music that are pleasing to you. But my relationship - nope, no way. That's mine. But go ahead and have everything else. I'll just hold onto my relationship, thank you. Have a nice day.

This is absurd, right? I say I believe the Bible and that everything it says is true. I say that I trust God. So if I read these things and yet I don't live them out then who am I? Do I actually believe it? Am I really trusting Him?
"Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it." James 4:17
"Seek first the Kingdom of God and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33
"Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her." Luke 1:45
Everything that He says is true. Never has He EVER in the history of creation made a promise and not kept it. "Does He speak and then not act? Does He promise and then not fulfill?" Numbers 23:19. (If you know of a time when He did, then please tell me because that would be so revolutionary in the world of faith.) So if He is telling You that He will give you absolutely everything you could possibly need, then why, why do you seek out everything else, leaving Him for last? You're exhausting yourself, girl. You are wearing yourself out with all the wrong intentions. You're wasting all your energy when it would be so simple the other way around. Your energy will be much better spent if you just seek the things of the Lord first, and then receive everything else as a free gift.
God only blesses lives that are surrendered to Him. So if you are holding on so tightly to something; whether that be an addiction, a career choice, your money, a relationship, a friendship, a grudge, a heartache, whatever it may be - if you are refusing to let it go and lay it down at the wonderful feet of Jesus - then God can't fulfill all the good things He has in store for you! How can your mechanic fix your car if you refuse to give the car to him? You think that's funny but that's what you're doing with your relationship with God. Not so funny now is it? This is real, guys this is the truth. "For I know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future." Jeremiah 29:11
Okay, I love concerts so here's a concert analogy here. If someone promised you a free ticket to a concert, and you didn't take it...would you be able to reap all the benefits that come from that concert? The feelings, the memories, the live music, the tears, the smiles, etc. No, of course not because you turned down the free offer. Friends, Jesus is promising you a life of joy, fulfillment, peace, promise, richness, hope and so much more. But if you hold back and refuse to take Him up on this marvelous gift that is freely given to you by the wonderful grace of your Father, then why do you expect to reap these beatitudes?
Think about it.
This was totally written to myself and to get my butt back on track with the one who gave me this butt to begin with. But maybe, just maybe it resonates with you too. Talk with me I'd love to hear your story.
Lots of love,
